In 6th grade math this week:
Monday students will be working on the decimals performance task titles "Debits and Credits". How can I use a ledger to help me balance my check book. This is an important activity as performance tasks count as 25% of a students grade. Unfinished tasks will be taken home for students to finish.
On Tuesday students will review how to change mixed numbers into improper fractions and vice versa. This is a review day and students should already have prior knowledge. It would be a great idea for students to review this before class and preview how to divide fractions.
Wednesday is an early release day, however students will be learning how to divide fractions by fractions. Unfinished classwork will be taken home to complete.
Thursday students will be taking dividing fractions to another level. Today we will be learning how to divide fractions and mixed numbers using the standard algorithm. Unfinished classwork will be taken home to complete.
Friday is our fraction modeling day. Today we will learn how to use picture models to demonstrate how fractions are divided.
